Emergency Management Agency (WLCREMA)

Borough Council has authorized the Borough of Palmyra to join the WESTERN LEBANON COUNTY REGIONAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY (WLCREMA). This agency is comprised of the Borough of Palmyra, North Londonderry Township, South Londonderry Township, South Annville Township, and the Borough of Mt. Gretna.

WLCREMA has not gone untested. In April 2010, the agency pulled together to assist the Borough with the EF-1 TORNADO that caused significant damage within the community. In 2011, WLCREMA activated to prepare for HURRICANE IRENE as she made her was up the Eastern Seaboard bringing high winds and rain.  The Agency has been activated several times since these two events for pre-cautionary measures.

The Intermunicipal cooperation of WLCREMA brings together several municipalities to provide emergency assistance in times of crisis. This type of cooperation is one way to maximize the use of trained volunteers to provide emergency response in a more efficient and coordinated manner.

A way to provide this type of service is to be prepared in the event of an emergency.

Any individuals needing special assistance are encouraged to complete a SPECIAL NEEDS REGISTRATION FORM and send it to:

WLCREMA
PALMYRA MUNICIPAL BUILDING
325 S. RAILROAD STREET
PALMYRA, PA 17078

In the event of an evacuation, this information will aid the WLCREMA volunteers in providing the proper assistance.
