Recycling containers are available from the Borough office at a cost of $13.00.  The containers are 25 gallons and meet all the requirements for the recycling program.

RECYCLING INFORMATION

Acceptable Materials

  • Aluminum food and beverage containers
  • Glass food and beverage containers – brown, clear, or green      
  • Ferrous (Iron) cans
  • Plastics with symbols #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #6, #7 – caps removed
  • Newspapers
  • Cardboard & Cereal Boxes – must be flattened and bundled
  • Magazines, Catalogs, and Telephone Books
  • Office paper
  • Mail
  • All other paper without wax liners
  • Gable top cartons or polycoated wax containers (e.g. milk or orange juice containers

Unacceptable Materials:

  • Microwave trays
  • Any type of Styrofoam
  • Mirrors
  • Window or auto glass
  • Light bulbs
  • Ceramics
  • Porcelain
  • Any plastic without a number
  • Plastic bags
  • Coat hangers
  • Glass cookware/bakeware
  • Household items such as cooking pots, toasters, etc.

All glass containers must be empty and free of metal caps and rings and contain less than 5% food debris.

All tin cans, bi-metal cans, and aluminum cans must be empty and contain less than 5% food debris.

All aerosol cans must be empty with less than 5% content.

All plastic containers must be empty, caps removed; less than 5% food debris.

Tissues, paper towels or other paper that has been in contact with food is not acceptable.

No refuse will be collected from recycling cans.

 

 

Recycling began in the Borough in 2001, as mandated by PA Act 101. Over the years, the Borough has received several awards for Recycling Achievement from the County Solid Waste Authority.
